The company owns the exclusive worldwide rights to the IP portfolio developed by Dr. Luis Herrera Estrella, a world leader and pioneer of plant transgenic technology which enables a more rational, eco‐friendly, control of weeds and use of fertilizers in modern high‐yield agriculture.
The platform technology developed has also important uses in other areas such as in microalgae cultures and selection markers. StelaGenomics in 2013 completed its first field tests for tobacco with favorable results, and has successfully transformed five major crops, owning a strong IP portfolio in main agriculture markets.
